Bed Bugs

Why do I have Bed Bugs?

Travel

Bedbugs are tiny, elusive pests that feed on human blood.

When you stay at a hotel or other shared accommodations, bedbugs can easily cling to your luggage, clothing, or personal belongings.

Once they enter your home, they quickly spread and multiply, creating an infestation that can be difficult and costly to eradicate.

Try this: Be vigilant when traveling, inspecting hotel beds, storing luggage off the floor, and laundering clothes upon returning home. Doing this reduces your risk of a Bed bug infestation.

Food sources

Bedbugs are parasitic insects that rely solely on blood for their survival, typically feeding on humans but also on pets.

Unlike many pests, bedbugs don’t consume food crumbs or organic waste; their primary and only food source is blood.

Bedbugs feed at night, using a specialized beak to pierce the skin and draw blood while injecting an anesthetic to avoid detection.

Try this: If you or someone you know is being bitten. try flipping over the mattress and inspecting the seams of the mattress. Also check to see if the bite marks follow a straight line. These are indications that you might have bed bugs.

furniture, multi-unit housing, clutter

Bedbugs are adept at hiding in the seams and crevices of furniture, so buying used items like mattresses, couches, or even electronics can unknowingly introduce them into your home.
If you live in an apartment or shared housing, bedbugs can easily migrate between units through walls, vents, or shared spaces

Bedbugs thrive in dark, cluttered environments where they can hide easily. An untidy or crowded living space may make it easier for them to settle in without being noticed.

Try This: Do your best to remove any possible infested furniture. Clean any cluttered or unclean areas thoroughly so that identification of problem areas is as easy as possible.
